Great spot to explore Highlands
Grandkids caught their first fish- bring your own rods, grab bait at gas station lower end of town. Went to the towns market on Saturday morning and a great night of music and fun at the same park in the evening- bring soccer chairs or a blanket. We only used upstairs- kids slept on couches closer to parents.

Relaxing at Bear Hug
We very much enjoyed our stay at Bear Hug. The home is very comfortable and functional. The home has a good flow and the screened porch area is very nice. The Wi-fi is very reliable and the TV is easy to use. The kitchen is small but more than adequate. The downstairs area is great for gathering. We plan on returning next year.

Nice spot for first Highlands visit
Well-kept home about a mile from downtown Highlands (although not conducive to walking). Plenty of room for a family, smart TVs galore, lots of DVDs and a player on hand. Home was clean and beds were comfortable. Limited necessities in kitchen, i.e., salt & pepper, spices, wraps, etc., so be sure and bring your own. VRBO mentioned a pool, note that it is a couple miles away and costs a few bucks. Rental agency was responsive and easy to deal with; provided some welcoming treats and plenty of info, maps about area. Will definitely stay again!

Sweetwood Cottage – Amazing!
Six girlfriends — all in our 60’s — a few days together in Highlands celebrating friendship — perfect “walk to town” Highlands home! 💖 Sweetwood Cottage is the quintessential Highlands home offering wonderful gathering places inside & outside on the porch! We loved the homeowner’s attention to the details that make this a beautiful & well-loved family home! We were greeted with a bottle of wine from Rent in Highlands and beautifully crafted boxes in the kitchen filled with items such dishwashing pods, etc! Each bathroom had a box of toiletries which was an added touch! Sweetwood Cottage is an easy 10 minute walk to downtown Highlands! We had wonderful meals at Madison’s at Old Edwards Inn, Four65 Woodfire Bistro and Lakeside Restaurant, a short stroll from Sweetwood Cottage! I highly recommend Sweetwood for a friends trip, couples trip & family vacation! I’ve already recommended it to my sister for a fall getaway w her family!

A clean, convenient, quiet place
I actually had to book this property at the last minute, but I’m glad that I did. This house is located almost exactly halfway between the towns of Highlands and Cashiers, It’s located just off Highway 64 but very quiet. The roads leading to the house are all paved, and the gravel driveway is very gentle. The house is only three bedrooms and three baths, but the bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious. The deck outside is relatively new and quite enjoyable, day or evening. I would definitely rent this house again.

Perfect home for a large family gathering!
The house was so cute and immaculate! I feel like it was even larger than we expected, plenty of room for our family of 9! They accommodated us pretty quickly with little notice after a different property fell through. They saved our trip to say the least! Would definitely stay here again, so close to downtown highlands and we could have sat on those screened in porches all day just taking in the view! Cannot thank this owner and property management group enough.

What a terrific place. This would be perfect for 2 couples (but it was awesome for me and my mom to enjoy our individual gorgeous space!) Each bedroom has very comfy king beds (one of them is pretty tall). The bathrooms are gorgeous, the kitchen is wonderful, with plenty of good knives (super important to me, because I like to cook.) The owner has thought of everything. There are ceiling fans throughout the house, it’s close to Bryson’s grocery store and close to Main Street. The WiFi works great, the privacy is lovely…and I love listening to the creek out back. My mom and I spent almost the entire trip sitting on the back porch talking and reading. Even when it’s pouring rain, the porch is the best spot. Thank you, THANK YOU …. We will be back!

Complete Highlands Charm
The property is beautiful and the home has so much charm and character. While there are a few quirks, as one would expect with a home that is nearing 100 years, it is so comfy and well appointed and we absolutely loved our stay there. This home is a unique and historic property that has been beautifully maintained. It is charming and has several outdoor areas to enjoy the waterfall and running water. Many sleeping areas for a large group and 2 living areas. The house is 3 levels, with narrow stairwells which could be an issue for the elderly or toddlers. It is a short drive to town and the beautiful Dry Falls are just a few miles away as well. We would highly recommend this property if visiting the Highlands!

Our extended family of 5 adults and 6 kids/teens had a wonderful time staying at Shortoff Mountain View. The house was so nice inside and out, thoughtfully and comfortably appointed and decorated. I would definitely stay there again. We absolutely loved exploring the property, finding the Spirit Tree and feeding the fish. It was the perfect place in every way to make memories as a family. It was also really nice being so close to Highlands.

Wonderful home and location!
We loved our stay at Little Bear Pen! The home is so beautiful and charming and the screened in back porch is a dream! We stayed in the late winter/early spring so the view was even better than the pictures show. If I could take that porch home with me and put it on my house, I would! The home was clean, well kept and nicely decorated and the amount of space was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 3 kids. It was a 3-4 minute drive to downtown which was ideal and there is even a walking trail from the neighborhood to downtown which was really nice. It was about a 20-25 minute easy hike from the house to Main Street, which was great for the kids. We parked a car downtown so we wouldn’t have to hike back up with our tired 3 year old but I’m sure the hike back up would have been great too! Our only real issue was the dishwasher pods that were left for us to use caused the dishwasher to overflow with suds. We bought some cascade pods to use instead and those worked just fine. The rental agency is aware of the issue with the pods, though, and they are working to fix it. Overall, we loved our stay at Little Bear Pen and would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful Weekend Getaway
Three old college friends enjoyed being together at Laurelwood for a weekend reunion. We were able to relax and reminisce in comfort, and enjoy the beauty of the mountains at the same time. The house met our needs; each of us had our own room with a comfortable bed; there were three baths, and a well-stocked kitchen so we could eat in as we chose and also enjoy the dining opportunities of Highlands for dinner. It all ended too soon.
